The Congress

by Mberro

´The Congress´ is an experimental VR experience exploring the impact of speed on liberal democratic processes. The Congress, draws from Virilio's concept of dromology -or the philosophy of speed- which assumes that speed is a fundamental factor shaping contemporary society (Virilio, 1977), as well as David Harvey's notion of time-space compression (Harvey, 1989). Users navigate a minimalist virtual environment and rapidly vote on various issues while constantly confronted by timer countdowns. Users vote on a variety of topics ranging from gameworld aesthetics such as colors of lights , to real life issues such as immigration policies and taxes.
